Thomas J. age 76 of Loretto, passed away on May 18, 2024. He was born on July 21, 1947 to Albert and Janet (Schmitz) Schumacher.

Tom graduated from Delano High School in 1965 and enlisted in the Navy shortly thereafter. After serving his country during Vietnam, he returned home to the family farm.

Upon returning, Tom reunited with and wed his high school sweetheart, Kay Bogenrief on April 25, 1970. To this union, three children were blessed.

Tom was a farmer at heart but used his skills in a variety of capacities. He had a strong work ethic and instilled that drive in his family.

Preceded in death by his parents; brothers in law Burt Klatt, Donald “Butch” Brady, Gary Bogenrief, and Mark (Janice) Bogenrief; nephew Bruce Klatt; and niece Jennifer Bogenrief.

Tom is survived by his wife of 54 years Kay, children Sean (former wife Dominique) Schumacher, Dustin (Jen) Schumacher, and Stacy (Michael) Scharber; grandchildren Megan, Sadona, Emily, Jacob, Kaylee, Kyra, Kaden, and Melanie; siblings Bonnie Klatt, Kathryn (John) Gartland, Gayle (Jerry) Litfin, Sheila (Terry) Salli; siblings-in-law Charlene Brady, Bruce (Michelle) Bogenrief; and Mary (David) Swartzer; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday, May 24, 2024 at the Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Loretto, Minnesota. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 PM, with a 3:45 PM rosary service on Thursday, May 23 at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano, Minnesota, and continue Friday from 10-11 AM prior to the Mass, at the church. Inurnment in the church cemetery.
