Virginia A. "Ginny" Matter

A truly wonderful woman, Virginia A. Matter “Ginny”, age 89 of Delano, went to heaven the evening of Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at her home with family by her side. She was born on September 24, 1930 in Delano, Minnesota to Edward and Bernadette (Hamel) Dunn.

Ginny was the sweetest person to anyone who had the privilege of meeting her. Her kindness and humility were gifts she shared with all who knew her. Growing up in Delano, she was the class Valedictorian and soon after, married the love of her life, Clarence “Buzz” Matter. The city girl became the farm girl. Working alongside Buzz she raised a family of five Dan, Debbie, Denise, Duane and Darcy. She was the best mother anyone could ask for. She cared for her family as well as for any animal, especially her many cats on the farm where she was able to live until her passing.

Ginny was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Buzz; daughter-in-law Pam Matter; sister Karen Willman; sisters-in-law Dorothy Jamma, Pam Zins and Bonnie Pawelk. She is survived by her children Dan (special friend Terri), Debbie (Doug) Motzko, Denise (Steve) Fahy, Duane (Janice), Darcy (Curt) Johnson; 12 grandchildren Dan (Erin) Matter, Jr., Jeff (Jenny) Holovnia, Tristan (Jon) Mors, Paul (Aumori) Matter, Laura Matter (fiancé Jeremy Spike), Lee Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, Jeanine (Joel) Pantzke, Shelly (Ken) Theis, Carrie (Derek) Lindberg, Nicole (Gary) Holman, Nate Matter (special friend Kari Schneider), Travis Johnson, Katelyn Johnson; 22 great grandchildren Asher, Axel, Eden, Emma, Dalton, Weston, Adlyn, Braxton, Ben, Alex, Haley, Milla,, Jayden, Brock, Tyler, Chandler, Alec, Garrett, Chloe, Skyler, Lydia, Austin; brother Dick (Ellen) Dunn; brothers-in-law Marvin Willman and Bill Zins; sisters-in-law Marian Boll, Vivian Herrman, Betty Boll and many other relative and friends.

A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Delano. Memorial donations may be directed to Iten Funeral Home and they will be passed onto the family.
