Wendell L. Huss age 81 of Delano passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Delano, Minnesota. He was born May 6, 1933, the first of four children, to Leonard and Emma (Stovner) Huss in Fargo, North Dakota.
Wendell attended Antelope School and then Hankinson School in North Dakota. He enlisted in the Army in 1953 and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in April of 1955 at the rank of Corporal. He was united in marriage on July 29, 1956 to Genevieve Krueger at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Leaf Valley, MN. The Lord blessed them with 9 children who were raised in Delano, MN. Wendell worked at Durkee Atwood in Minneapolis for 9 years. He then worked for what is now Waste Management for 30 years.
Wendell loved the Lord and shared Christ’s love with friends and family. He served his church in many capacities including Sunday school teacher, usher, deacon, choir member, and drove the Happy Bus on Sunday mornings to pick up the people who needed a ride to church.
Wendell’s interests were reading the Bible, praying, and gardening. He also loved children.
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Genevieve; children Wendy (Klay) Knutson, Randall, Debra (Todd) McLouth, David (Amy), Kevin (Alice), John (Kathy), JoAnn (Matt) Trelstad, Brenda (Doug) Parks, James (Char); 31 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; sisters Kay (Roger) Borowski, Karen (Gary) Mundis, Becky (Gordon) Larsen; sister-in-law Iona Kreft; brother-in-law Dennis Krueger; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Delano Evangelical Free Church. Visitation was Monday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Iten Funeral Home Delano, MN. Visitation continued on Tuesday 10-11 a.m. prior to service at the church.
