Bendickson, Wesley Sherman, age 88, passed away on September 5th, 2022 surrounded by his family at his home in Independence, Minnesota after losing his battle with cancer. He was born on February 25th, 1934, the third of seven children. He was preceded in death by his parents Ben and Thelma; siblings Lois Vigness and Wayne, along with his beloved son Michael Jon.
A larger than life man, Wes was an entrepreneurial genius, a dynamic salesman, and a true visionary. Whether moose hunting in Alaska or deep-sea fishing in Cabo, he was a fearless adventure seeker, proud Norwegian, and true optimist. He has a tireless work ethic and a great mind for seeking out untapped opportunity. He was still operating an excavator and sharing wisdom just days before his death. He has countless stories, strong opinions, and a soft heart. Husband, father, father-in-law, adored grandfather “Oompa”, his life lessons and deep love will be his legacy. Married 67 years to his beloved wife Julia – together they created a cherished family, a successful business, shared countless adventures, and developed a great love for Cabo San Lucas.
Survived by his wife Julia, children Mark (Mimi), Sandi (Jim), grandchildren Mark Jr. “Mac” and Adrienne Julia “Adie”. Siblings Lilah, Ben (Margie), Micki (John), Susie (Steve), sister-in-law Claudia, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Wes will be greatly missed by all.
A Funeral Service was held at Christ Lutheran Church in Maple Plain, Minnesota at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 8th, 2022. A celebration of life immediately followed at the Iron Exchange Patio in Maple Plain, Minnesota.
