Marianne G. Burke age 92 of Delano passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Delano, Minnesota. She was born August 4, 1922 to William and Erna (Schimelpfenig) Fruetel in Norwood, Minnesota.

Marianne was baptized and confirmed at E & R Church in Bongards, Minnesota. She graduated from Central High School in Norwood, Minnesota in 1940. Marianne was united in marriage to John C. Burke of Sacred Heart, Minnesota on November 18, 1942. John preceded Marianne in death in November of 1988. She was also preceded in death by her brother William W. Fruetel and a sister Muriel Neusens.

Marianne is survived by her children Eileen (Henry) Huetteman of Delano and Paul (Marcia) Burke of Bloomington, Minnesota; two grandchildren Lori (Guy) McKinley and Erin (Peter) Heim; 5 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Donna Fruetel as well as several nieces and nephews.

Marianne was employed as secretary to the Superintendant at Sacred Heart Public Schools for 25 years. She was an active volunteer, giving her time at Sacred Heart Public Schools for 4 years; Sunday School teacher at Ebenezer Lutheran Church for 15 years; and President of ELCW at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross unit in Sacred Heart, served on the REA Advisory Board in Renville, Minnesota. Volunteer at Renville Nursing Home for 10 years; served on Renville Hospice Board for several years. She was a past member of the VFW Auxiliary and church secretary. In 2006 she brought her volunteering spirit to Delano where she was active at the Delano Health Care Center as well as the Delano Senior Center, “Story Theatre”.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2014 at the Light of Christ Lutheran Church in Delano, Minnesota. Interment was in the Ebenezer Lutheran Church Cemetery in Sacred Heart, Minnesota.
