Marvin C. Schaust of Cleveland, OH, died on April 9, 2026. He was born January 18, 1928 to the late Charles and Frances Schaust (nee Jaunich) of Delano, MN.
Surviving is his beloved companion Pat Galiant and her family, local friends and nieces and nephews in Minnesota. Preceding him in death were his two sisters, Valeria Bernick and Dorothy Dalbec. He earned a bachelor of Music degree in Education with a Piano major from the Minneapolis College of Music in 1951, which later merged with McPhail. He then enlisted in the Army Security Agency, spending seventeen months in Korea as a cryptography analyst. He then went to the Minnesota School of Business to become a court reporter. He worked as a freelance court reporter in Cleveland, first with Toll and Associates, branching off to partnerships, then owning Schaust and Associates for over 30 years until his retirement. Besides being a world traveler, Marvin enjoyed his musical background at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Especially the biannual international Piano Competitions. He was a red coat volunteer usher at the Cleveland Playhouse and with the Cleveland Playhouse Foundation. His original homestead has been converted to Fountain Hill Winery and Vineyard in Delano, MN.
Funeral Mass Monday, April 13, 2026 at 10 am at St. Ladislas Church, 2345 Bassett Rd., Westlake OH 44145. Friends received one hour prior to Mass at Church. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Delano, MN. An additional Mass was held at 11 AM on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Parish, St. Peter campus in Delano, MN. A visitation was held prior from 10-11 AM, with a 9:45 AM rosary service. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Delano, Minnesota.
