Jay F. Rasset, age 92 of Montrose, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 29, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born January 19, 1925 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Cletus and Gladys (Pettis) Rasset.

Jay had a deep spiritual faith. He was a life-long member of St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church in rural Delano. He was united in marriage to Marie Schmidt on February 23, 1946 at St. Marys.

Jay was a life-long farmer in the Montrose area. He also was a School Bus driver for the Montrose-Buffalo School District for over 25 years. He served during WWII in the Merchant Marines. Jay was an avid storyteller and liked to be around people.

Jay was preceded in death by son Dennis; grandson Luke; infant granddaughter Anita Hausladen; son-in-law Paul Lukach; parents; siblings Floyd (Florence), Marie (Clarence) Moss, Dale, and Hazel.

Jay is survived by his wife of 71 years Marie; children Dianna (Jim) Hausladen, Mike (Janice), Stephen (Patricia), Teresa Lukach, John (Melanie), Joe (Kathy), and Patrick (Rita); 27 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Jo Ann (Doug) Ouverson; sister-in-law Sandy Rasset.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church in rural Delano. Visitation was Friday, 4-8 p.m. with a 3:30 p.m. Rosary Service. Visitation continued Saturday, 10-11 a.m. prior to Mass ALL at the church. Interment was in the church cemetery.
