Gardner

Helen Julie, (Nee Strey), passed away peacefully on September 26, 2023. She was born on November 26, 1935, at home on the farm near Montrose, Minnesota.

Married John G. Gardner on July 25, 1953, at St. Peter’s Church in Delano.

Helen was the daughter of John and Hattie Strey, sister to Howard and Clarence.

Helen is survived by 6 children: Cindy (James) Hughes; Terry and Kathy Denio; Marijo Kunkel; Jeanne McClellan; William (Dawn) Gardner; Michael (Karen) Gardner.

Additionally survived by her 12 grandchildren: 4 great-grandchildren, and a great-great granddaughter.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband John, parents, brother, and a grandchild.

Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 AM on Friday, September 29, 2023, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic parish, St. Peter’s campus in Delano, Minnesota. Visitation was prior to the Mass from 9-11 AM, with an 8:45 AM rosary service all in St. Martha’s Hall of St. Peter’s campus. Interment was in Calvary cemetery in Delano, Minnesota. A luncheon followed the interment.
