Myron "Mike" Day
November 14, 2020

Myron Lester Day, age 86, of Delano, died on November 14, 2020, after a long illness. He was born on March 13, 1934, the son of Marjorie (Lester) and Fred Day. Early in his adult life, Mike served as a mechanic in the Air Force, fostering a love of aviation that led to acquiring a private pilot’s license. He earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture at the U of M, where he met his wife of sixty years, Janet, who survives him. He is also survived by their children, Linda, of Pittsburgh, PA, and Donavon (Cathy), of Sacramento, CA; and their grandchildren, Rachel and Zachary. Mike worked as an investigator in the FDA for thirty years, retiring in 1990. Throughout his life he held to a strong Christian faith, nurtured through the United Methodist Church. He had a good sense of humor, was an avid reader, held strong beliefs, and was proud of his Irish heritage. He enjoyed bird watching, repairing cars, deer hunting, boating, ice fishing, and put-putting his John Deere Model B through the Leech Lake woods. Most of all he was a family man, a loyal husband and father who loved his family. We will miss him.

An outside reviewal was held from 10:30 – 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 prior to the outside service at 11:00 AM all at the Delano United Methodist Church. Military honors followed. Participants remained in their cars. Interment was at Sumter Cemetery, in Sumter Township, rural Brownton.
