Donald M. Mengelkoch, age 75 of South Haven, formerly of Waverly, passed away January 7, 2016 peacefully at his home. He was born January 3, 1941 to John and Afra (Brummer) Mengelkoch in Minneapolis, Minnesota. On April 22, 1961, Donald married Mary Lou Bernick and they were blessed with 6 children. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964-1967. Donald loved spending time with his family, hotrod cars and taking trips to the casino. He also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, spending time at the lake, four wheeling and grilling. He was a great storyteller. Donald was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou, parents, brother Frank and sister Linda. He is survived by sons William, Mike (Charlene), Mark (Lori), Donald (Jodi), Kevin (Barbara); daughter Brenda (Kevin) Strauss; 17 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 7 siblings. Memorial Services were held at 3 p.m. on Friday, January 15, 2016 at the Iten Funeral Chapel in Delano. A gathering of family and friends was from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service on Friday.
