Don was born in Howard Lake, MN to Fred and Lydia Yager on March 26, 1935. He died peacefully while surrounded by his family on April 16, 2010 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia, MN.

He is survived by his wife, Lorelie; children, Todd (Patti), Jon (Suzanne) and Nichole (Joe) Vogel; grandchildren, Catherine, Candice, Noah, Dominic, Gabriel and Tessa; brother, Arwood “Woody” (Helen) Yager of Winsted, MN, sisters-in-law, Marcella Yager and Margaret Yager Balboul and many additional loving family members.

Don and Lorelie made their home in Loretto for the past 46 years. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 30th. Don was a meat cutter by trade, enjoyed being outdoors, watching birds and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was blessed with a beautiful singing voice that will be missed at weekly mass as well as any special occasion. He enjoyed the company of his family and friends and the conversations they shared were filled with insight, discernment and humor.

Don”s love of family was only surpassed by his love of the Lord. He was a fine, Christian gentleman and will be deeply missed by all those he has touched throughout the years.

Don”s funeral on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 was celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic church in Loretto. It was officiated by Rev. Father John Gallas and Rev. Father Frank Wampach and the homilist was Don”s friend, Deacon Darrel Courrier. Eulogists were Dick Klaers and Gary Chalupsky. Music was performed by Greg Elsen and Michelle Koch Walters. Pall bearers were Andy Chalupsky, Dick Johnson, Steve Rosdahl, Ed Schumacher, Greg Yager and Larry Zeik.
