Frank Schwerin

Frank W. Schwerin age 81 of Robbinsdale, formerly of Delano passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at his home. He was born on September 14, 1933 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Marvin and Erna (Hermann) Schwerin. Frank grew up on a farm in the Montrose area. He graduated from Delano High School in 1951 and attended Dunwoody Institute. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged January 1957 with a rank of IC1.
Frank was united in marriage to Joanne Henkel on June 25, 1960 in Giese, Minnesota. He worked for Western Electric, Nortronics and retired from T.L. Systems. He was a woodworker par excellence and an avid fisherman and an active, faithful member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hope. A key element of his retirement was his desire to find shipmates on the internet, inviting them to attend and be a part of reunions for the U.S.S. Robinson DD-562 and the U.S.S. Sierra AD-18 over the years.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents and son Paul. He is survived by his wife Joanne; daughters Jeri Schwerin and Carolyn (Jay) Luehmann.
Funeral Service were held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 10, 2014 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 4240 Gettysburg Ave. N., New Hope. Interment was in Cassel Cemetery, Delano.
