Lyle Gabriel Zimmerman age 77 of St. Cloud, formerly of Howard Lake/ Delano area passed away on Friday, June 5, 2015 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. He was born July 10, 1937 in Nicollet, Minnesota to Reinhard and Gertrude (Maas) Zimmerman.

Lyle was a longtime farmer on Nelson Road in Independence. In his early years he worked as an electrician in the Minneapolis area. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on May 1, 1956. He was an avid sports enthusiast, loving to support the Minnesota Twins and the Vikings. He also loved his tractors, especially the John Deere ones. Playing bingo, cards and dice and fishing were some of his pastimes, but most of all he loved his grandchildren.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents Reinhard and Gertrude Zimmerman; son Gary Zimmerman; son-in-law Perry Leaf and a brother-in-law Harlin Stolt. He is survived by his children: Gregory (JoAnne) Zimmerman, Paula Leaf-Jopp (Bobby Jopp), Angela (Chris) Henry; grandchildren Michelle (Tomas) Matoska, Kari Zimmerman, Kendra (Chad) Bowe, Aaron Zimmerman, Acsia (Josh) Naessen, Kayla Blackwell, RayAnna Blackwell, Daniel Zimmerman, Raya Zimmerman, Meagan Henry, Jack Henry, Madison Henry, and Colton Henry; great grandchildren: Lily Davis, Forrest Davis, Paige Naessen, Wyatt Naessen, and Brooklynn Bowe; siblings: Lloyd (Elaine) Zimmerman and Marlys Stolt.

Memorial services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday June 26, 2015 at the Iten Funeral Chapel in Delano, Minnesota. Gathering of family and friends was from 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home prior to the services. Inurnment with military honors is at 11:45 a.m., meeting at Assembly Area #5, in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
