Carol Grace Hayes, age 87 of Howard Lake and formerly of Delano, passed away surrounded by loved ones at home on Thursday, October 19, 2017. She was born on February 12, 1930 in Enfield, Minnesota to Evan and Hazel (Bell) Chamberlin. She married Marvin Hayes on November 11, 1950 and moved to Montrose. In 1961, they moved to a farm west of Delano where they resided until 2013 when they then moved to Howard Lake.

Carol enjoyed reading and listening to old-time country music; spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren; baking and entertaining company; fishing; journaling the highlights of each day; wood-burning beautiful pictures and watching football and baseball. She also really enjoyed playing cards and her all-time favorite game, Scrabble; bird watching and admiring the beautiful flower garden outside her patio door. She was the anchor of her family.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Marvin; son Allen; granddaughter Brandi Hayes; parents Evan and Hazel Chamberlin; brothers Jack and Don; sisters Hayzella Westman and Shirley Biske. She is survived by her children Larry Hayes (partner Jo Grindle), Darlene (Earl) Stoll, Tim Hayes and Jeff Hayes; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sister Claire Sheldon.

Funeral Service was held at 11 am on Monday, October 23, 2017 at the Montrose United Methodist Church in Montrose. Visitation was Monday, from 10-11 am prior to the service at the church. Private inurnment at a later date will be in the Kreidler Cemetery in Marysville Township, Minnesota.
