MILES AGA Johnson (MIKE) age 83, of Rockford, Minnesota died peacefully on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013. He was born to Jack and Marie Johnson at Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1929, and grew up in the Bryn Mawr neighborhood of Minneapolis.

He attended West High, where he played center on the football team and he was chosen to play on the Minneapolis all-city football team. In 1952, he graduated from the University of Minnesota and served in Korea as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force until 1956. After discharge, he worked with his dad at Jim Angeles Studebaker Sales of Minneapolis and taught social studies and history at Echo, Minn. for one year. In 1959, he began a 30 year teaching career at Rockford High School, where he coached several sports and led the football team to numerous victories and several unbeaten seasons. In 2012, he was among the first group to be inducted to the Rockford High School Hall of Fame.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Judith Emma. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruth; sons, Dane of Minneapolis, and Tim of Rockford; daughter Melissa and husband Wayne Kalal of Eden Prairie; step-grandchildren Mason, Megan and Madison, as well as many other close family members and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Father’s Lutheran Church in Rockford, where he was a charter member. Interment will be at Beckville Lutheran Church Cemetery near Litchfield, Minn. at a later date.
