Delores "Dee" M. Kosek (Motzko)
February 27, 2024

Delores Mary (Motzko) Kosek, fondly known as Dee, passed away on February 27, 2024, at the age of 80, surrounded by family members. She was born December 28, 1943 in Watertown, Minnesota, to her late parents, Charles and Frances (Levno) Motzko.

Dee was one of a kind, bringing a smile to others either by her cheerful personality or funny situations she would get into. She enjoyed gardening, scrapbooking, crafts of every sort, coloring, knitting, and board games—especially Scrabble. She also loved to go on any trip—it didn’t matter where.

Dee grew up above Motzko’s Store on Highway 12 in Delano, attended St. Peter’s School, and graduated from Delano High. She had numerous jobs over the years: nurse’s aide, receptionist, and home-health aide. Dee also ran the store for several years, adding fresh flowers (she was a self-taught floral designer) and crafts. But her biggest achievement was being a mom. She had five kids under the age of five (including two sets of twins!) who she raised on her own as a single parent. After her children, one of the great joys of her life was being a grandma.

Dee is survived by her loving children: Mike (Jody), Mark (Gina), Mary (Jason Mortensen), Bryan (Kim), and Brenda (Tim Cloutier). She is also survived by her siblings, Frances (Motzko) Graunke, Gloria (Motzko) Schoening, Stan (Margaret) Motzko, John Motzko, and sister-in-law Linda Motzko. Dee will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Ryan (Katie), Ethan, Emma, Elise, Hayden, Olivia, Celka (Nik), Hazel, Griffin, Alexa, and Josh; and her great grandchildren: Kaia, Willa, and Fletcher, who was born on the day of Dee’s passing.

Dee will be remembered by her nephews: Doug, Dave, Steve, Bill, Nathan, Chaz, and Taylor; and her nieces: Deb, Chris, Sue, Addie, Megan, and Rain. Dee was like a grandmother to all the grand nephews and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Frances (Levno) Motzko, sibling, Charles, brothers-in-law, Richard Graunke and Arthur Schoening, and sister-in-law, Rebecca (Mogensen) Motzko.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Maximillian Kolbe Catholic Parish, St. Joseph Campus on March 22, 2024. Gathering from 9:45-10:45 AM prior to Mass at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano, Minnesota. A luncheon with eulogy and remembrance will follow the interment.
